A Gay Activist Group Gave Free Bus Tickets to Minorities and Trans People. It Likely Violated Civil Rights Law.

When a gay activist group handed out free bus and ferry tickets to “self-identifying Trans, Black, and/or brown” people headed to New York’s Fire Island over Juneteenth weekend, it said the goal was “transportation equity.” But lawyers tell the Washington Free Beacon that the move likely ran afoul of civil rights laws that ban race and gender identity discrimination, reflecting a broader rift between elite mores and legal safeguards.

‘Your terms are acceptable’: Liberal actor/director Ken Olin tweets, ‘In States where abortion is illegal the father should be financially on the hook at the moment of conception’

Amid leftist outrage over a Supreme Court ruling that struck down Roe v. Wade, Ken Olin — an outspoken leftist who has described President Joe Biden as “a giant” — declared that in states where abortion is unlawful, fathers should be financially responsible from the time of conception.

“In States where abortion is illegal the father should be financially on the hook at the moment of conception,” Olin tweetedOlin is a director, producer, and actor.

Many responded by noting that they completely agree with the policy position that Olin mentioned.

“Your terms are acceptable,” tweeted Dan McLaughlin of National Review Online. “No man should ever fail to support his own children. Ever. In fact, no man should ever fail to stick around to raise his own children. Fatherhood in all of its obligations is what manhood is *for*,” he added in another post.

“It never gets old that the libs think this is a sick burn,” John Cooper of the Heritage Foundation tweeted.

“Yes – that has been the #prolife position from day one. Welcome to the movement,” Michael Quinn Sullivan tweeted.

“Thank you for making the decades-long argument that conservatives have made. We accept your terms,” someone else tweeted.

Olin is outspoken about his political views — he has praised President Joe Biden and denounced former President Donald Trump.

“Yes, @POTUS is an elderly man,” Olin tweeted about Biden. “But he’s an elderly man who knows what it takes to be a great President. And he still has the faculties to do the job with decency, ethics, empathy, conviction, honor, and character. Don’t mistake humility for weakness. Biden is a giant.”

“That Donald Trump – the epitome of a profligate amoral crude ignorant narcissistic misogynistic vile sacrilegious liar and reprobate – would be the one responsible for taking America back to the repressive Christian laws of the mid 1950s is the cruelest of ironies,” Olin tweeted.

Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot declares, ‘F[***] Clarence Thomas’

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, a Democrat, demonstrated an abysmal lack of propriety by publicly uttering a profanity against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

“F[***] Clarence Thomas,” Lightfoot declared at what reports indicate was a pride event.

Last week the high court released a decision that enables states to ban abortions, and Thomas was one of the justices who joined the opinion.

“The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives,” Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the opinion.

Many Democrats, including Lightfoot, have bemoaned the decision as a “dark day” for the country.

Lightfoot claimed in a statement that “this decision will be used as precedent to gut the legal underpinnings used to protect against gender-based discrimination, which includes women’s rights, trans rights, immigrant rights, and of course, to right to same-sex and interracial marriage.”

Thomas wrote a concurring opinion in which he indicated that the Supreme Court should eventually overrule other decisions, like the Obergefell v. Hodges gay marriage decision.

Thomas wrote that, “in future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell.” He also wrote, “After overruling these demonstrably erroneous decisions, the question would remain whether other constitutional provisions guarantee the myriad rights that our substantive due process cases have generated.”

Lightfoot had mentioned Thomas’s concurring opinion prior to making the profane remark about the long-serving Supreme Court justice.

In response to Lightfoot’s inappropriate “F[***] Clarence Thomas” remark, Daniel Darling, director of the Land Center for Cultural Engagement at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, tweeted, “Absolutely egregious. If a conservative Mayor said this about a SCOTUS judge we’d have wall to wall handwringing about the crisis of democracy.”

“The entire left is a bunch of mad ugly people yelling the F-word at the Supreme Court and cheering crowds of idiots thinking it somehow makes a difference. Symbolism over substance to the Nth degree,” radio host Derek Hunter tweeted.

Breaking: At least 46 illegal aliens found dead in a trailer in San Antonio, and death toll may climb higher

A horrendous scene was discovered by police in San Antonio, Texas, in a tractor-trailer where at least 46 illegal aliens were found dead and the death toll could climb higher.

The 18-wheeler vehicle was found on Monday at Quintana road and Cassin road in a secluded area in the southwest of the city.

Local news outlets reported a large law enforcement response of at least 20 emergency vehicles to the incident at about 6 p.m. Multiple sources from the San Antonio Police Department told KSAT-TV that 16 others were found alive and transported to hospitals for treatment.

A KSAT crew also documented a mass casualty evacuation ambulance at the site.

At least 5 victims were reported in critical condition at Baptist Medical Center hospital.

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott responded to the tragedy on Twitter and blamed it on the lax border enforcement policies of President Joe Biden.

“These deaths are on Biden. They are a result of his deadly open border policies. They show the deadly consequences of his refusal to enforce the law,” he tweeted.

A similar horror unfolded in July 2017 when a trailer full of illegal aliens was abandoned at a Wal-Mart in San Antonio. Eight of the nearly 40 migrants were found dead from the heat and two others lated died at hospitals in that incident.

“They were very hot to the touch. So these people were in this trailer without any signs of any type of water,” said San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood at the time. “It was a mass casualty situation for us.”

The driver of the truck was later sentenced to life in prison over the deaths.

Here’s footage at the scene from KSAT-TV:

Nurse resigns after claiming on social media she would deny Viagra to white males who vote conservative

A registered nurse resigned after she claimed on social media that she would deny Viagra to white conservatives.

The tweet from the nurse was highlighted by the popular “Libs of TikTok” account on Sunday.

“I prescribe meds.. I can also choose not to prescribe them,” read the tweet published on Wednesday. “So… from now on.. if you are a white male who votes conservative, your penis needs to ask God for the power to rise. No more Viagra.”

When she was challenged over the questionable tweet, she doubled down.

“Bring it. I am allowed to prescribe based on need,” she added in a second tweet. “If you think God can provide, then why would I not allow for that? Conservative men rely on God to provide… I think that is a wonderful idea. Let us pray…”

Online sleuths were able to trace her back to a health center in Mattoon, East Central Illinois.

On Monday the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center confirmed that the nurse had resigned.

“A Sarah Bush Lincoln Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), who posted a discriminatory message on social media over the weekend, has resigned,” said the health center in a statement on Twitter.

The statement quoted an apology from the nurse.

“I am deeply sorry for my posts on social media. I allowed my personal feelings to spill out,” she said.

“Those hateful words are not aligned with how I have provided care to my patients,” she added. “Sarah Bush Lincoln is a wonderful organization and my actions have tarnished its reputation. I have resigned and know my patients will be well care for.”

The Libs of TikTok account has garnered more than 1.3 million followers and faced censorship from various social media platforms for merely reposting problematic videos and posts from those on the left.

Last year the Biden admin touted a paltry $0.16 decline in July 4 cookout costs — this year the average cost is up more than $10

In 2021 the Biden administration caught flack for hailing a $0.16 decline in the cost of July 4 cookouts compared to the cost in 2020, but the American Farm Bureau Federation has reported that Independence Day cookouts will cost 17% more this year.

The AFBF marketbasket survey found that the average price for a 10-person cookout in 2022 is $69.68, which is a whopping $10 higher than the average 2021 cost of $59.50.

Foods like ground beef, hamburger buns, potato chips, ice cream, and more are included in the survey. While some items have declined in price, others have increased. The price for two pounds of ground beef has surged by more than a third since last year, according to the survey.

In 2021 the White House got roasted for highlighting a paltry $0.16 decrease in cookout costs compared to 2020. “Planning a cookout this year? Ketchup on the news,” a cringeworthy White House tweet declared. “According to the Farm Bureau, the cost of a 4th of July BBQ is down from last year. It’s a fact you must-hear(d). Hot dog, the Biden economic plan is working. And that’s something we can all relish.”

“Despite higher food prices, the supply chain disruptions and inflation have made farm supplies more expensive; like consumers, farmers are price-takers not price-makers,” AFBF chief economist Roger Cryan said. “Bottom line, in many cases the higher prices farmers are being paid aren’t covering the increase in their farm expenses. The cost of fuel is up and fertilizer prices have tripled.”

The survey findings come as Americans struggle under the financial strain caused by soaring inflation, which is eroding away the purchasing power of their savings and earnings.

According to consumer price index data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, “The all items index increased 8.6 percent for the 12 months ending May, the largest 12-month increase since the period ending December 1981.”

As of Monday, the AAA national average price for a gallon of regular gas is $4.897.

President Joe Biden has claimed that combatting inflation is his “top economic priority.” But if the roaring inflation problem persists, it could hurt Democrats during the 2022 midterm election cycle.

Pelosi blasts ‘extremist’ Supreme Court in letter outlining next steps for House Democrats on abortion

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Monday sent a seething letter to her Democratic colleagues railing against the “extremist” U.S. Supreme Court’s abortion decision and vowing to revive failed legislation that would create federal protections for abortion.

In a dear colleague letter dated Jun. 27, Pelosi outlined several abortion bills House Democrats will take up before the upcoming elections in November. Among them is another version of the Women’s Health Protection Act, a bill that would create a federal right to abortion and drastically roll back state abortion restrictions — restrictions that are now legal since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in a landmark decision on Friday.

Legislation to codify Roe has passed the House before but failed to win enough support in the Senate to overcome a filibuster by pro-life Republicans. It has virtually no chance of passing under the current makeup of Congress.

Two other bills House Democrats will advance include legislation protecting the right to travel out of state for an abortion and a privacy bill that would prevent prosecutors in pro-life states from accessing data stored in reproductive health apps to enforce abortion restrictions.

In her letter, Pelosi blasted the “extremist Supreme Court” and accused the court of attempting to “punish and control the American people.”

“Democrats must continue our fight to expand freedom in America. Doing so is foundational to our oath of office and our fidelity to the Constitution,” Pelosi said.

Her letter singled out Justice Clarence Thomas’ concurring opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, in which Thomas wrote that the Supreme Court should go farther than overturning Roe and “reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell.” Those are several highly controversial cases dealing with contraception, sodomy laws, and gay marriage, respectively.

“Because any substantive due process decision is ‘demonstrably erroneous,’ […] we have a duty to ‘correct the error’ established in those precedents,” Thomas wrote.

Pelosi called Thomas’ opinion “disturbing” and promised federal legislation to codify the rights to contraception, homosexual sex, and gay marriage.

“Justice Clarence Thomas confirmed many of our deepest fears about where this decision may lead: taking aim at additional long-standing precedent and cherished privacy rights, from access to contraception and in-vitro fertilization to marriage equality,” she wrote. “Legislation is being introduced to further codify freedoms which Americans currently enjoy. More information to follow.”

Thomas’ opinion was not shared by the other justices in the majority. In the opinion authored by Justice Samuel Alito, the court explicitly rejected the proposition that Dobbs should be used to question the court’s rulings on issues not related to abortion.

“And to ensure that our decision is not misunderstood or mischaracterized, we emphasize that our decision concerns the constitutional right to abortion and no other right,” Alito wrote. “Nothing in this opinion should be understood to cast doubt on precedents that do not concern abortion.”

But Pelosi’s letter does not address the substance of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs. The final paragraph reveals that Pelosi’s outrage is directed at motivating voters to the polls in November to protect Democratic majorities in Congress.

“It is clear from how Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell stacked the Supreme Court that elections have ramifications,” Pelosi wrote. “It is essential that we protect and expand our pro-choice Majorities in the House and Senate in November so that we can eliminate the filibuster so that we can restore women’s fundamental rights – and freedom for every American.”
